Goa is one of the few places in India, which truly captures the spirit of a relaxing holiday. Ranging from trance rave parties at one end and meditation and yoga on the other, the variety offered by this place surpasses all other popular holiday destinations of the country.

Though Baga, Calangute and Palolem are mostly found as most popular beaches of Goa. I found that, these are over commercialized and crowded tourist spots which do not offer the tranquility and peach sought by the holidaying mind. During my last visit to Goa in February 2014, I explored both south and north Goa in order to search the most peaceful and beautiful beach of Goa for a perfect holiday for mind and soul. And there, I found Agonda.

Agonda is the most serene and peaceful beach of Goa with a long beach face and less crowds. Being a Ridley turtle nesting site, the government has ensured that the place remains clean and less commercialized. This place is 30-35 Kms south of Madgaon railway station and 10 Km north of Palolem beach.

The best time to visit the beach is from November to March, when weather is comfortably cold. Also, there is an  during this season, as local hoteliers rig up beautiful make shift beach huts for stay. These sea facing huts with round the clock views of beach and there are huts which are cooler during the day, being in shade of coconut trees. The rates for one night stay range from 1000 INR to 3500 INR, depending on the quality of services. Further, restrictions for minimal lights and sounds post sunset by the authorities, make this beach a perfect place for candle light dinner. There are a few good restaurants on the beach which offer nice options for drinks as well as meals.

In my view, Agonda beach looks most beautiful in the morning. The few numbers of sun-beds on the beach, put-up by hut owners, are removed by the evening, so the beach looks clean and natural in the morning. With very few people out there for Jog, Yoga and Meditation, the unexplored and untouched views of the beach surely, provide much-needed freshness to the day.

We stayed at Agonda Beach Huts and booked our stay at Kashinath Beach Huts.
